Ricky Max Henderson
Life Member - Navy

Ricky Max Henderson

Rick was born in Geneva, AL 5/10/1959 and passed in his home in Red Level, AL 4/23/2020

Rick loved football, riding horses, the land, and being country raised.  In his early years he was known for his physical strength and rugged good looks. Rick joined the Navy right out of High school, passing up a chance to play football for Bear Bryant and University of Alabama.  During his years in the Navy, he became a Weapons Technician with emphasis in Nuclear Weaponry.  He retired as an E-6 Petty Officer serving on several ships and earning his Shellback Status. During his shore-duty he often tended bar or provided security.  He also said that he remembered when computers were introduced due to doubling his workload.

After his retirement from the Navy he worked as Truck driver for eight to nine years.  While driving, his co-pilot was Charles Henry, a stuffed gorilla that always rode shotgun and waved at kids across the country through his innovation and ingenuity.  Bringing smiles to America’s youth everywhere that he and Charles travelled.  He finally retired from driving to spend more time with his two daughters.

During his retired years his passion was for fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, having a few drinks with his many friends and enjoying the simple life.  Rick was a Life Member of the VFW Post 4388 and cherished the time he could share his life experiences with other Veterans and Post patrons.  He was a good cook and fierce friend known for his loud voice, laughter, and impeccable condor.  He also had a fierce love of peanut butter and pound cakes.  Rick could present as a bit selfish, but was always available to help others when he was capable.  He delighted in WWE and sharing that love with his daughter throughout her life.

Rick was a good man and friend. He will truly be missed.
